Remarkably prolific and accomplished in a wide arrange of the fine and decorative arts, William Zorach created a myriad of sculptures that celebrated the human figure, i including the nude female bronze that he sculpted for Rockefeller Center (banished by its impresario, Roxy Rothafel). This more domestic sculpture, attributed to Zorach, is more domestic in its subject matter; both mother and child look somberly toward the viewer, giving this piece a dignified, stylized character.
