Sea Maidens Artist: De Lue, DonaldNationality: USA Time Period: c. 1933 Dimensions: 16" high x 11" wide Type of Work: Print Medium: Print/Poster Price: $1,250 Plus shipping and insurance Widely known for his mannerist figural sculptures with hugely exaggerated musculature, attenuated limbs, and elastic body positions, this very early print by De Lue gives a strong indication of his life's work to come. De Lue did a series of drypoint prints in 1933 and 1934 when he was just beginning to establish his career, most of them populated by nubile nude women cavorting in a fantasy world. This is one of his most complex compositions, including several female figures and one Michelangeloesque male figure, all swimming in an Art Deco sea.
