![]() | War and Peace This elegantly designed bronze medallion from 1936 depicts two stylized Art Deco figures representing war and peace, all finished in a lustrous, dark brown patina. Sculptor Albert Stewart depicts a working man pulling a plow with gravesites in the background -- a classic 1930s, WPA image. The medal's reverse depicts an angel flying over a mountainous horizon. Stewart was a WPA artist who designed a considerable body of public sculpture in Massachusetts, New York, Missouri, Minnesota and the District of Columbia.
