Head with Aureole Artist: McNeile, H. HowardNationality: USA Time Period: Dimensions: 20.5" h x 15.25" w x .5" deep Type of Work: Sculpture, bas relief Medium: Mahogany Wood Price: $800 Plus shipping and insurance This moderne bas relief panel was carved from a richly-colored panel of mahogany by Howard McNeile in 1945. McNeile was a member of the Pennsylvania Craftsmen Guild, one of the artisan collaboratives that actively promoted fine, handcrafted works earlier in the century. We are proud to offer you this very special piece, which was presented at the inaugural exhibition of the Guild in 1946, and was featured in its catalogue published in that year. The artist chose a very fine piece of mahogany for this work, and created a low-relief sculpture that is reminiscent of decorative carvings for building facades in the period.
