Although internationally famous as the father of Op Art and the creator of a remarkable array of paintings and prints with eye-popping colors and geometries, it is not so well known that Victor Vasarely started to explore patterns and shapes early in his career, in the 1930s. During what has been called his Graphic period, Vasarely created prints -- such as this rare example -- which made use of black and white to explore figures and shapes that interested him. These interlocking figures appear to be locked in an eternal embrace, both abstract and sensuous at the same time. The print is signed and numbered 03/50.
