Subtle and fine, this low-relief portrait of a young boy was sculpted by Bela Janowsky, a Hungarian-born sculptor who studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts under Charles Grafly and others. Janowsky was a respected Works Progress Administration artist, and executed work for the Treasury Department Building in Washington, D.C., the post office in Cooperstown, NY and a memorial Building in Queens, New York.
