Anticipating the nation's Bicentennial celebration, this medal issued by the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania in 1967 shows George Washington at prayer on the obverse, and the head of Apollo surrounded by rays of light on the reverse. Characterisitically, De Lue gives his figures great vitality, wrapping Washington in an expanse of deeply-folded cape that resembles an unfurling flag.
