An ingenious medal, showing two sides of the same man and woman in a loving embrace. Both are partially nude, but only one is shown on each side of the medal, with only a hint of the lover behind. Sculptor Robert Aitken has done his best to give the viewer the approximation of a full, three-dimensional statue in bas relief form! This piece was created at the height of Robert Aitken's career in 1937, after he had won many prizes, designed sculpture for the U.S. Supreme Court Building in Washington, D.C. and also designed the $50 coin for the U.S. Mint.
